LADDER

The UTR Tennis Ladder with Charleston Tennis Circuit is a great opportunity to compete on a high level in singles and on a flexible schedule against the best players in the area. The ladder is open to all junior and adult players with a level of at least 7.5+ UTR (if you are not sure what 7.5+ UTR is equivalent to, please contact Sandy Franz by E-Mail). There will be three ladders offered during the year (January to April, May to August and September to December). During the four months, you are able to challenge players or be challenged to play as much as you would like. During the last two weeks of the ladder, the top 16 players qualify to play for the prize money in a 16-draw elimination round. Matches can be played on a very flexible schedule and anywhere in Charleston or surrounding areas. This format makes it interesting as you have the opportunity to challenge players ranking above you to ensure at the end of the four months you will qualify for our 16 round elimination tournament and compete for the prize money.

Format:
2 out of 3 sets with a 10-point super tiebreaker in lieu of a third set

Registration Fee:
$45

Prize Money:
Prize money is based on the amount of registered players.

All results will be posted on UTR but to challenge your opponents you will be using the App Tennis Rungs. After you successfully registered, we will be sending you an E-Mail with all the instructions.

Tennis Ladder Rules:

  • You may issue 1 challenge at a time

  • You can only be challenged by one player at any given time. - This prevents outstanding challenges from accumulating against you –

  • You may challenge up to 3 spots.

  • If the challenge is successful, you will take the spot of the person you challenge, and your opponent will be bumped down 1 spot. - If you hold a wildcard, you may challenge anyone above you.

  • By accepting a challenge, you agree to play the challenge within 14 days after the date of acceptance.

  • If you cannot play within 14 days, simply "Deny" the challenge and the challenger will be rewarded the win and can move on.

  • If a challenge is accepted and not played within 14 days, it will expire, and the challenge will be deleted from the system and will have to be re-issued. Of course, since rankings continually change, a re-challenge may not be possible.

  • If you accept a challenge and you cannot complete it within 14 days, then the match is deemed forfeited. The automatic no activity penalty is activated, so if you have no activity for 21 days you move down 5 spots, for 42 days, you move down 5 more spots, and no activity for 63 days then you are removed from the ladder.
