We have some exciting news for you! In 2021, Charleston Tennis Circuit in partnership with Gwinnett Tennis, will launch Rally to The Slam.
What is the Rally to The Slam all about? It is a series of 14 verified Universal Tennis Rating tournaments between February and October. Seven of those tournaments are hosted in Charleston, SC and the other seven in Atlanta, GA. You have the chance to collect points throughout all of the tournaments to qualify for our complimentary team tennis event at the end of October, where Charleston Tennis Circuit team battles Gwinnett tennis team for the yearly trophy (& bragging rights)!
What is the format for the tournaments?
It is a fulfilling format consisting of 3 guaranteed matches during the round-robin stage. The top players of each round-robin group advance to the elimination round with the potential of playing 2 more additional matches. The goal of this format is to provide you as many matches a
possible.
How does a player qualify for the year end
event?
A total of 32 players will be invited to compete (16 players for Gwinnett Tennis & 16 from Charleston Tennis Circuit) for the invitational tournament end of October in Atlanta. 4 players of each UTR level (group), who have collected the most points will qualify for The Slam. The groups are divided into: 0.00 - 3.00 UTR | 3.01 - 6.00 UTR | 6.01 - 9.00 UTR | 9.01 - open UTR Sandy Franz will be the team captain for Charleston Tennis Circuit and Chase Hodges for Gwinnett Tennis. The two teams will battle it out for the year-end Rally to The Slam trophy!
How does the point system work?
You have the chance to collect points during all of our Rally to The Slam tournaments. At the conclusion of the last tournament, which will take place during the beginning of October, all of the points will then be calculated to determine which players of each UTR group will qualify for the Gwinnett and Charleston Tennis Circuit team to compete at The Slam's final event. Here is how the point structure works:
5 points for participating in a tournament
3 points for winning a match
3 points to advance to the single elimination stage
6 points for winning a flight
3 points for 2nd place in a flight After each tournament, you will be able to view the status of the Rally to The Slam race on our Charleston Tennis Circuit website. While collecting points, you also qualify for fun prizes and the 4 players with most points in each group will be invited to our invitational tournament in Atlanta on October 29-31, 2021.
